ヒト脳機能を定量的に理解する

私たちの日常生活を支える複雑・多様な脳機能がどのような神経基盤によって成立しているのかを研究しています。より具体的には、自然な知覚・認知条件下における脳神経活動(fMRI記録、電位記録等)を説明する予測モデルの構築を通じ、脳神経情報処理及び情報表現の定量的な理解を目指しています。また予測モデルの応用により、脳情報デコーディングやそれを介した情報伝達手段構築のための数理基盤開発を目指します。

研究の概念図。多様な知覚・認知条件下の脳活動を説明する予測モデルを構築することで、脳内情報処理・情報表現に関する包括的な知見を得る。

現在注目しているテーマは何ですか?
深層学習や自然言語処理技術等を含む機械学習技術の進展によって、脳神経活動についてこれまでより高精度な予測モデルが構築可能になってきています。これらの技術を応用することで、脳情報処理や脳情報表現について新たな定量的知見や解釈が得られると考えています。
