December 9, 2024 (Saturday)

We organized a bus trip. This event was planned with the intention of providing an opportunity for not only international students to interact with each other, but also for international students and Japanese students to connect. This time, we visited Uji City in Kyoto Prefecture.

  • Set off on a chartered bus!
  • A warm welcome with a handmade welcome board by the guide.
  • A greeting from the advisor for international students, who also served as the photographer for this tour!
  • A greeting from the former advisor for international students, who continues to warmly support students even now.
  • Next is the self-introduction by the participating students.
  • A mini lecture by the guide! We learned about the destinations.
  • The first destination, Manpuku-ji Temple! It is a temple where Chinese culture is still strongly preserved.
  • Before entering the temple, we received an explanation from the guide.
  • A face panel of "Ragora Sonja," who is said to be the child of Buddha!
  • As we stroll through the temple grounds...
  • Stunning autumn leaves were there! Thanks to the long summer, it seems the foliage reached its peak two weeks later than usual.
  • It almost felt like it was waiting for us!
  • A corridor adorned with beautiful hanging lanterns. During the upcoming special nighttime viewing, the lanterns will be illuminated.
  • The prototype of the fish-shaped wooden drum. The round ball in its mouth symbolizes earthly desires, which are said to be expelled by beating the fish.
  • Strolling through the quiet and spacious temple under the clear blue sky was incredibly refreshing!
  • Next, we visited the Phoenix Hall of Byodoin Temple.
  • What everyone is seriously photographing is...
  • A two-shot of the Phoenix Hall on the 10-yen coin and the real Phoenix Hall!
  • Next...
  • It's the long-awaited lunchtime!
  • The aroma of steaming dashi whets the appetite. The Uji tea soba was also a big hit!
  • After lunch, we went to a tea shop. We experienced grinding tea leaves with a stone mill and making matcha.
  • Incredibly, the matcha we ground this time costs 60,000 yen per kilogram!
  • The speed of grinding is important. If you spin too quickly, the matcha becomes coarse and bitter.
  • After making matcha, there was a tea ceremony experience.
  • The way matcha is prepared can greatly affect its taste. We listened to the explanation attentively.
  • After drinking the matcha prepared the correct way, everyone exclaimed, "Huh? It's not bitter at all!" and "It's delicious!".
  • The remaining time was free time! Some people enjoyed the autumn leaves...
  • While others enjoyed food walks. We made the most of every moment until the very end.
  • This is the end of the trip! We hope this event provided an opportunity for everyone to expand their circle of friends.
