Application of iPS cell technologies to treat skeletal disease

The skeleton is made of cartilage, which includes articular cartilage and growth plate. Abnormalities in articular cartilage cause joint dyskinesia, which abnormalities in growth plate cause skeletal growth disorders. The treat of these cartilage disease is difficult and has been a challenging area of research. In our laboratory, we are attempting to elucidate the pathogenesis of cartilage diseases by investigating the mechanism that regulate cartilage formation and differentiation. Then, we also working on the development of new cartilage regeneration therapies and drug discovery using iPS cell technology. In this seminar, we will introduce our projects to treat cartilage disease with new knowledge.
