Live-cell Raman Imaging of Hippocampal Neuronal Cells

Raman spectroscopy is a non-labeling method to extract biological information from living cells. We are focusing on hippocampal neuronal cells to clarify the function of neurotransmitters in the central nervous system through Raman imaging analysis. Primary cultured rat hippocampal neurons form neuronal networks on a dish and the neuronal activity appears during maturation. Spectroscopic signatures of neuronal component identified through Raman imaging analysis will be reported in this presentation.
