Principles of Fluorescence Microscopy: From the very beginning to super resolution

The greatest advantage of fluorescence microscopy is its capability of imaging specific molecular components in biologically-relevant conditions or even in the living state. However, its resolution is limited by the diffraction limit due to the nature of the light, which has been a major limitation of fluorescence microscopy. Recent development of super-resolution microscopes has made it possible to overcome this limitation, creating new possibilities for fluorescence microscopes. This lecture outlines principles of fluorescence microscopy from the very beginning to super resolution.
