How to make an optical microscope by ourselves
Optical microscopy, including not only general microscopy such as bright-field and conventional fluorescence microscopies but also super-resolution imaging microscopy, is an essential tool in the field of life sciences. In Ishijima laboratory, we measure the functional properties of bacterial flagellar motor and/or the intracellular signaling in a living bacterial cell, therefore, we construct the microscopic system by ourselves to detect these cellular phenomena. In FBS colloquium, we will introduce the principle of a general microscope including microscopic systems in our laboratory, and how to make it from the viewpoint of making a microscope by ourselves.
