Decoding the noncoding RNA codes

The postgenomic analyses in the beginning of the 21st century have revealed that large portions of the eukaryotic genomes produce numerous numbers of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). These ncRNAs must play various significant cellular functions programmed by the new genetic codes that are distinct from the canonical genetic code. In this colloquium, I will introduce you the current state of decoding of this new genetic code by referring to our study on the specific class of ncRNAs called “architectural RNAs” for construction of intracellular structures.
