Regulation of the formation of cullin 4-RING ubiquitin ligases in nucleotide excision repair

Nucleotide excision repair (NER) removes a wide range of structurally unrelated bulky, helix-distorting DNA lesions, including UV-induced cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers as well as chemical carcinogens. NER comprises two subpathways: global genome NER (GG-NER) and transcription-coupled NER (TC-NER). DDB2 and CSA have seven WD40 repeat motifs and form cullin 4-RING ubiquitin ligases (CRL4s). CRL4-DDB2 and CRL4-CSA function in GG-NER and TC-NER, respectively. In this colloquium, I will present about recent findings on the formation of these CRLs.
