Allocentric neurons in precuneus

Though our visual image from retina is shifted with each saccades, we usually do not perceive such displacement. The neural mechanisms for stabilizing visual world remains unknown. To solve this question, we hypothesized that our brain represent object position automatically relative to backgrounds like a rectangular frame. So far, we conducted three studies of different approach to examine this hypothesis. First, a target position for reaching is encoded allocentrically and used for calculating motor error. Second, an object position relative to a large rectangular frame is represented in the right precuneus. Third, in monkeys' precuneus, there are some neurons whose receptive fields are organized allocentrically. These results support our hypothesis that our brain represent an allocentric object position and build the stable visual world in precuneus.
