More about the retreat

Young Researchers’ retreat is organized annually for young researchers who belong to the Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences, promoting communication between researchers from different fields of study. This retreat is sponsored by the GCOE Biosciences Gradute Program “The Dynamics of High Order Biological Function and Systems”, which strongly supports innovative and multi-disciplinary research. The main aim of this retreat is to promote active discussion between young researchers and graduate students.
The theme for the 4th retreat is

"Unity through dialogue."

The theme of the camp was decided by three key dialogue sessions. The fundamental aim of this camp is to provide an opportunity for cross-disciplinary dialogue sessions. In conjunction with the summer school program, foreign researchers are also invited to join us for cultural exchange, simultaneously creating an opportunity for cross-cultural dialogue sessions. This year we are going even further by holding a public dialogue session to find out more about the public’s hopes and views about science.

The reason underlying the dialogue session with the public is to increase scientific awareness and interest in the public community. Through the dialogue session we hope to help the public understand scientific research better and cultivate new interest towards science. With help from the Communication Design Center (CSCD) , we opened a science café, inviting the public to share their views on scientific research with us. In the retreat we will share with you the public’s opinion of science, discuss ideas and touch on fresh perpectives.
Lastly , we look forward to seeing you at campthis retreat.
