Application Method

by June 23th, with the subject of the e-mail reading “ GCOE Retreat - [Name of your laboratory] - [Year of Study] – [Your Name]”.
Example: GCOE Retreat - Murakami Lab - D3 - Hagimoto Kazuya
※ Please change the file name into “[Name of your laboratory]_ [Your Name].xls”
※ Please save the file in Excel2003 (Excel2004 for Mac), XLS format.
※ If any of the fields above are inapplicable, you can omit some of the information from the subject of your message.

※ Cancellation without reason is not permitted.
※ Please state your reasons on the entry form if you cannot stay for the entire duration of the retreat.

Participants

All D1-D5 students, staff members, post doctoral fellows and assistant professors belonging to FBS or working in a lab affiliated to FBS (including foreign researchers participating in the 2010 Summer Program) are welcome to join.
※ Members employed by GCOE are expected to participate.
※ Please contact us if you have questions regarding eligibility or you are NOT a FBS student.

Materials to be prepared by participants

① Power point presentation (please have a memory stick) for group discussion,
② Printed Power point slides for group discussions,
③ Poster (width 841mm, height 1189mm)
④ Participation fees and charges for insurance

※ 1, 2 Participants from the same laboratory are allowed to present the same contents. However, posters 3 should be different and therefore emphasize the presenter’s research.
※ 2, 3, 4 are necessary.

・Contents of Research Presentation (both PowerPoint and handouts)
※all material should be written in English,
Please prepare a ten-minute presentation about your research. Based on one of the themes of this camp, please make your presentation as simple as possible, such that people with non-scientific backgrounds can understand the purpose and goals of the research.
Oral presentations must be in English.
There will be an additional 5-10 min for questions. Microsoft PowerPoint will be available. And please bring printed handouts.
※ If you cannot present your research publicly, feel free to talk about published data from your lab
※ One PC and one white board will be available to each group.

・Contents of the Poster
※All material should be written in English,
Please bring any additional materials that you think are necessary. Posters in other sizes besides A0, even printed Power Point slides are allowed. Presentations for poster session can be longer and more detail about your research than those in the small groups. These presentations will be held simultaneously with the buffet dinner.
You are free to give presentations on previous published results if you are uncomfortable with sharing current data.
