A place to grow and excel!

I joined FBS as a master’s student at a whooping age of 21, carrying a great desire for pursuing science and a dream of becoming a researcher one day. Luckily, FBS was the perfect choice for grad school!
I started working on developing antimicrobial treatments by focusing on alternative oxidases, but from there, I became very interested in mitochondrial research, especially mitochondrial diseases. In my PhD, I was able to utilize new omics tools to understand the underlying molecular mechanism of their pathogenesis. FBS did not just provide exceptional facilities and state-of-the-art equipment, it provided a fertile environment for research, collaboration, curiosity, and knowledge.
Now, I am a research fellow at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center in Osaka, where I am continuing my work on mitochondrial diseases. However, I feel like I never left FBS. I keep in touch with many of my colleagues and professors, I still attend several seminars a year, and I recently participated in workshops on mitochondrial research. There is just so much to learn, so many great minds to learn from, and so many chances for growth, even beyond graduation.
Thanks to everyone at FBS, I was able to follow my dream of becoming a scientist, and if you choose FBS, you can do too!
