I think what makes the Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences unique is the broad range of research fields and a culture where you can research anything as long as it’s fun and exciting. Thanks to this research culture, I was able to immerse myself in basic research in the field of autophagy.
After working at a university as academic staff, now, I am conducting applied research for the practical application of pharmaceutical production using live bacteria at a drug discovery venture startup. I believe I was able to make this career change because I had immersed myself in a research culture that values basic and applied research. Although my research field has changed, the experiences I had during my studies, such as learning experimental techniques, formulating and verifying hypotheses, and communicating in English with international students, have become indispensable tools in my current job.
I hope that all of you will take advantage of the culture at FBS and devote yourselves to research that you find fun and exciting.
