Please tell us about the research theme you are currently working on.

I am working on elucidating the mechanism of stuttering—a disorder that hinders fluent speech – using approaches that combine fMRI and machine learning models.

Why did you choose the Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences (FBS)?

Several reasons come to mind: the existence of the Nishimoto Lab, which conducts research combining neuroscience and information science; the entrance exam format, which allowed me to present a research plan rather than a graduation thesis; and the five-year integrated doctoral program, which meant studying alongside peers who also hold a long-term perspective.

What do you find appealing or positive about FBS?

With such a diverse group of students and faculty with different backgrounds and interests, you are bound to find like-minded friends and approachable professors. Also, many faculty members hold joint appointments with the Graduate School of Medicine or Graduate School of Information Science and Technology. With abundant affiliated facilities and partners (CiNet, CiDER, Osaka University Hospital, D3 Center, etc.), it is an ideal environment for pursuing interdisciplinary research.
