About Lab.

We carry out research on nano-biophotonics, a new research field that spans the fields of nanotechnology, biology, and photonics. We develop techniques to observe living cells and biomolecules with an ultra-high spatial-resolution and sensitivity by utilizing nanotechnology, vibrational spectroscopy, and non-linear photonics. Currently we study biomolecular kinetics with a nanometric spatial resolution by using nanoprobes such as metallic nanoclusters, plasmonic probes, and semiconductor quantum dots. We also study photosynthesis of a plant leaf by using near-infrared spectroscopy & imaging. We also develop techniques for optical nano measurement and imaging using single molecules fluorescence and light induced molecular nano alignment of photochromic molecules.
