Recruitment of Ph.D. students

We are seeking motivated students who are interested in the mystery of correctness of development. Successful candidates will be persons who are interested in mouse embryogenesis and/or intercellular communications, e.g. Hippo signaling, cell competition.

We use both mouse embryos and cell culture systems for our research, but research experiences with these experimental systems are not required.

Ph.D students from overseas are strongly encouraged to think of applying financial support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT Scholarship).

More than 40 foreign students are currently studying in FBS. Our graduate school has many programs supporting students from overseas, ex: luncheon seminars, parties and hiking for foreign students.

Admission to FBS PhD course

For fresh graduates:
In FBS, we enroll fresh graduates as PhD students twice a year, in April and October. Entry examination also takes places twice a year, in July and in December.

For students with master degree:
If applicants already have a master’s degree, they can be transferred into the 3rd year of the Ph.D course. For this admission, we enroll students in October and April. Examination for this transfer will be done 4 months in advance, in June and January, respectively.
