(Result)
Gordon Research Conference on Sensory Transduction in Microorganisms was held in Ventura, CA, US. It was a 5-days meeting attended by about 150 researchers. I was able to hear latest research reports by 60 speakers. Many of the talks were related with my work and hence stimulating and exciting. About 100 posters were presented in the poster session. I presented my own poster with the title "Relationship between proton conductivity and the rate of torque-generation cycle of the proton-driven flagellar motor". I showed clear correlation between proton translocation and torque generation in the flagellar motor mechanism from my study on the motor functions by bead rotation assay and pH imaging. I was able to discuss with many scientists about my results and got very good suggestions from them. During this conference, I also got to know new techniques and was able to get new ideas to carry out my future works. Finally I thank the Global COE Program (System Dynamics of Biological Function), Osaka University for financial support.
