Result: I attended the 2009 FASEB Summer Research Conferences "The Biology and Chemistry of Vision" at Snowmass Village, Colorado. This meeting is focused on the photoreceptor cells. About 120 researchers on this field attended to this conference. During this meeting, all attendees stayed in one of three hotels reserved by the meeting office. In the meeting, 9 oral sessions were held and each session was consisted of 4-5 speakers. In these sessions, many aspects of photoreceptor cells including structure of proteins, physiology, development, pathology and therapy were focused. Two poster-sessions including about 70 posters were also held at 2nd and 3rd day of the meeting. Among these posters, 16 posters were selected by organizers and presenter of these posters were given an opportunity to make a brief presentation at the beginning of the meeting. Fortunately, our poster was selected and I made a presentation of our poster. Our posters title was "High cGMP Synthetic Activity in Carp Cones", and in this poster, we focused on the physiological aspect of photoreceptor function by using biochemical and electrophysiological methods. In my presentation, I introduced our poster in 5 minutes. This was very good experience for me. It was also good experience for me to obtain opportunities to talk with young Japanese researchers who were struggling abroad.
I greatly appreciate GCOE for the financial supports and providing this chance.
