Faculty position (Professor)

The Graduate School of Frontier Biosciences (FBS), Osaka University, invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Full Professor.

The FBS aims at fostering scientists capable of interdisciplinary studies to elucidate mechanisms underlying biological processes. In this occasion, we are seeking a qualified candidate investigating neuroscience or biophysics. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the promotion of interdisciplinary education and research at the FBS. Moreover, the professor nominee will be jointly appointed to the undergraduate "Biophysical Engineering Course" of Faculty of Engineering Science, and is expected to fully commit him/herself to the operation of the undergraduate course.

The professorship position will be open in April, 2014. The nominee who takes this position will head a research/education group and is expected to recruit two additional faculty members in his/her group at the assistant professor level. The assistant professor position is for a five-year term appointment. The contract with one position is renewable, given a good record of activities during the initial term.

Please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a list of publications distinguishing original papers and review articles, the record of funding in the past, PDF files of your 6 most important papers, a detailed statement of your research in the past correlating with published papers (within 1000 words), and a research plan and your teaching interests (within 1000 words).
